De Windows Phone 7 Microsoft Lync Client

Microsoft heeft zojuist de Windows Phone 7 Microsoft Lync Client vrijgegeven. Klik hier om hem te downloaden.

BELANGRIJK: Voor Microsoft Lync 2010 voor Windows Phone is een Lync Server-account of Office365/Lync Online-account vereist. Als u niet zeker weet of u over een dergelijk account beschikt, neemt u contact op met de IT-afdeling.

 

Met Lync 2010 voor Windows Phone beschikt u over de kracht van Lync op uw mobiele apparaat. Via de gebruiksvriendelijke interface kunt u onder andere gebruikmaken van geavanceerde functies voor aanwezigheid, expresberichten, audiovergaderingen en telefonische gesprekken.

 

Belangrijkste functies:

 

- Bekijk de beschikbaarheid van collega's in realtime en selecteer de beste manier om met hen te communiceren: via een expresbericht, een e-mailbericht of een telefoongesprek.

 

- Maak direct verbinding met telefonische vergaderingen in Lync. U hoeft geen lange numerieke wachtwoordcodes of vergaderingsnummers meer in te voeren.

 

- Start en ontvang gesprekken met alleen uw Enterprise Voice-nummer (Lync-id). Hierdoor kunt u via één consistente identiteit met anderen communiceren.

 

- Lync 2010 voor Windows Phone biedt TLS (Transport Layer Security) en beveiliging van het perimeternetwerk en interne netwerk zonder dat er VPN nodig is. De communicatie is dus veilig, waar u ook bent of welk netwerk u ook gebruikt.

Nieuwe #ADFS Rollup met betere #Office365 ondersteuning

Update Rollup 1 for Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0 is beschikbaar. Voor Office 365 is deze update heel belangrijk aangezien ze twee nieuwe scenario's voor Office 365 ondersteund:

Ondersteuning voor meerdere UPN suffixes binnen dezelfde forest zonder hiervoor een tweede instantie van ADFS te hoeven implementeren (dus bijvoorbeeld UPN's die eindigen op wortell.com en wortell.nl kunnen nu middels 1 ADFS implementatie met Office 365 ondersteund worden).

Betere mogelijkheden om op basis van de locatie van een client toegang tot diensten af te schermen.

• Multiple Issuer Support
  Previously, Microsoft Office 365 customers who require single sign-on (SSO) by using AD FS 2.0 and use multiple top level domains for users' user principal name (UPN) suffixes within their organization (for example, @contoso.us or @contoso.de) are required to deploy a separate instance of AD FS 2.0 Federation Service for each suffix. After you install this Update Rollup on all the AD FS 2.0 federation servers in the farm and follow the instructions of using this feature with Office 365, new claim rules will be set to dynamically generate token issuer IDs based on the UPN suffixes of the Office 365 users. As a result, you do not have to set up multiple instances of AD FS 2.0 federation server to support SSO for multiple top level domains in Office 365.

• Client Access Policy Support
  
  Today, Office 365 customers do not have the capability to use AD FS 2.0 to restrict extranet access across all the endpoints to corporate resources within Office 365. Some organizations may want to create policies that limit access to Office 365 services that depend on the location of the client. For example, you might want to the following capabilities:
  • Block all extranet clients access to Office 365
  • Block all extranet clients access to Office 365, except for devices accessing Exchange Online for Exchange Active Sync

  Update Rollup 1 for AD FS 2.0 enables organizations to configure these kinds of policies. If Office 365 customers who use SSO require these policies, they can now use client access policy rules to restrict access based on the location of the computer or device that is making the request. Currently, customers who use Microsoft Office Online Services cloud IDs cannot implement these restrictions.

#Wortell Mailboxen worden naar #Office365 gemoved

Naast mijn privé mailbox gaan we nu ook met (een deel van) de Wortell mailboxen naar Office 365. Omdat ik met 22GB de grootste zakelijke mailbox heb, heb ik voorgesteld de eerste testgebruiker te zijn. Inmiddels loopt de move. Ik vraag me af wanneer ik klaar ben. Wel spannend!!

De #Wortell vestiging op de #Microsoft Campus in Redmond

Inmiddels heb je wellicht vernomen dat Wortell een kantoor heeft geopend op de Microsoft Campus in Redmond, WA, USA (kopie persbericht, blog Wortell, artikel automatiseringsgids).

Wij hebben ervoor gekozen om een vestiging in Redmond te openen omdat we van mening zijn dat dit ons in staat stelt nog meer samen te werken met Microsoft Corp. Onze relatie met de Microsoft Nederland is heel goed. Onze relatie met Microsoft Corp op verschillende niveaus ook. We zijn echter van mening dat het fysiek op de campus aanwezig zijn ons enorme voordelen kan opleveren in de onderlinge relatie. Het zorgt ervoor dat de activiteiten die wij voor Microsoft Corp doen verder kunnen worden uitgebreid en dat we nog dichter op het vuur zitten daar waar het nieuwe ontwikkelingen op de cloud betreft.

Naast hard werken op de Microsoft campus is er echter ook ruimte voor ontspaning. Mijn favoriete plekjes:

Op en rondom de campus zijn allerlei velden te vinden. Een voorbeeld hiervan is een voetbalveld waar je als je daar zin in hebt een wedstrijdje kunt spelen:

Het Microsoft Visitor Center is erg leuk. Het is een soort mini museum waarin aan de ene kant een hoop van de historie van Microsoft te zien is, maar aan de andere kant ook een kijkje in de toekomst gegeven wordt:

Hoewel de meeste boeken inmiddels digitaal te verkrijgen zijn, blijf ik het fijn vinden om gewoon papier vast te houden:

#HTC #Titan en Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) #WP7nl

Afgelopen vrijdag heb ik mijn nieuwe Windows Phone 7 in gebruik mogen nemen. Het is een HTC Titan met Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). Ik had hiervoor al een normale Windows Phone 7 met de beta Mango versie. Deze final release van Mango is echter wel heel erg goed. Daarnaast is de HTC Titan erg mooi. Het scherm is enorm groot. Het scherm is heel helder, de telefoon heeft een 8 MexaPixel camera en maakt hele heldere foto's. Het scherm is enorm helder en scherp. Het enige dat een beetje jammer is, is de enkele processor die erin zit.

Windows Phone 7.5, Mango, is ten opzichte van Windows Phone 7 en zeker ten opzichte van andere Smart Phones echt een uniek platform. Standaard integratie met LinkedIN, Twitter, Facebook en email platformen zoals Windows Live Hotmail, Exchange en Gmail maken dat je telefoon echt een hub wordt. Als je je contactpersonen bekijkt wordt een samenvoeging van de contactpersonen van al deze Social Networks gegeven. Niet alleen de contactgegevens, maar ook Social Network Updates en Foto's worden getoond. Dit zonder een aparte applicatie te hoeven gebruiken voor Twitter, Facebook en LinkedIN.

Andere leuke functies zijn:

• De telefoon kan als standaard als WIFI router dienen. Als er geen WIFI beschikbaar is voor je laptop kun je je telefoon dus gebruiken om te surfen.
• De gekoppelde Inbox weergave van de mailapp geeft heel netjes als je mailboxen samengevoegd weer.
• De contact groepen tonen alle informatie van groepen personen. Als je bijvoorbeeld je collega's onder dezelfde groep plaatst zie je alle informatie (email, sms, telefoontjes, social networking updates, foto's) van die groep personen
• De HTC App "Verbonden Media" is echt heel leuk. Stelt je in staat media te streamen vanaf de mediaservers in je huis
• De camera is uitgerust met een handige Panorama en Burst modes (volgens mij is deze functie HTC specifiek)
• Er zijn 2 camera's genomen. 1 voor en 1 achter
• In de Office Hub is een standaard verbinding opgenomen naar Office 365, SharePoint en SkyDrive.

Al met al wat mij betreft een enorme aanrader.

Grappig is dat mijn ervaring is dat de meeste mensen die een iPhone hebben en de Windows Phone 7 zien, helemaal deze HTC Titan, eigenlijk gelijk wel willen overstappen. De iPhone is in vergelijking met de Windows Phone 7.5 echt een beetje "ouderwets". Goed gedaan door die jongens van Microsoft. Nu alleen het marktaandeel nog wat dat valt op dit moment wel enigszins tegen.

#Lync Plus (lees Voice) CAL tot eind dit jaar lager in prijs.

Om Lync Voice te kunnen gebruiken is een zogenaamde Lync Server Plus CAL nodig. Deze komt bovenop de standaard Lync CAL. Tot 31 december 2011 zal de Lync Plus CAL goedkoper worden aangeboden. Hieronder de mail van Microsoft hierover:

Wortell over Office 365

Microsoft shot a video about the transition Wortell has made from a traditional System Integrator to a Cloud System Integrator. The film was show at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Los Angeles July 2011.

[...] and to build into Service Pack 1 important capabilities to support the scaling of SharePoint.

In short, the following supported limits were announced:

• Content databases of 200GB or less continue to be supported fully with out-of-box tools and functionality of SharePoint

• Content databases hosting document archives are supported with no limit to the size, other than that imposed by SQL Server itself

• Content databases hosting all other scenarios—loosely, "collaboration" scenarios—are supported up to 4TB

• A content database is supported up to 60 million items, including documents and list items. The supported limit for items in a single list or library (30 million) is unchanged.

• Size limits described above apply to the total size of data and content whether BLOBs are externalized using Remote BLOB Store (RBS) or not.

Zojuist de status MVP voor #Office365 gekregen van #Microsoft

Ik heb zojuist het nieuws gekregen dat ik verkozen ben tot MVP voor Office 365. Natuurlijk is het een enorme eer om deze titel toegewezen te krijgen en ben ik er bijzonder trots op. Een kroon op al het Office 365 en BPOS werk van de afgelopen jaren!

Een kleine beschrijving van wat een MVP is (van de website www.mvps.nl):

De titel "Microsoft MVP" wordt door Microsoft aan geselecteerde specialisten toegekend. Deze specialisten zijn aktief in de verschillende communities op het gebied van Microsoft produkten en technologieën.
